On December 12th, the EXCELScIOR Team gave an engaging and interactive workshop titled “Meta-Research in Sports Science“, at the Faculty of Sports Science, University of Coimbra (FCDEFUC).
The event focused on advancing research practices within sports science, offering attendees valuable insights into meta-research methodologies. EXCELScIOR Team Leader, Tracey Weissgerber, delivered an inspiring talk on “Meta-Research: The Science of Improving Research Culture and Practice“, while EXCELScIOR Researchers, Inês Almeida and Teresa Cunha-Oliveira, led discussions on “Open Science and Responsible Research Training for Early-Stage Researchers” and “Monitoring Responsible Research Practices Through Interactive Dashboards“, respectively.
EXCELScIOR Coordinator, Paulo J. Oliveira, also participated in the event, introducing the EXCELScIOR project to the sports science community and highlighting its mission to foster excellence in research practices.
This workshop brought together researchers and doctoral students from various domains of sports science and meta-research, creating a vibrant space for dialogue and collaboration. It underscored the importance of applying meta-research principles to enhance transparency, rigor, and impact in sports science research.
