We are excited to announce that the University of Coimbra has secured funding for the TREASURE project (Transforming Research Assessment through Responsible Research Training of Early Stage Researchers). This initiative is designed to reward master’s and PhD candidates for integrating reproducible, reusable, and open research practices into their thesis research.
TREASURE is funded under the CoARA Boost cascade program led by the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), which supports European institutions in implementing the 10 commitments of the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment (ARRA).
This institutional pilot study aims to create formal incentives to recognize reproducible, reusable and open research practices, focusing on early-stage researchers.
TREASURE is institutionally coordinated by the Vice-Rector for Research, João Ramalho-Santos, with EXCELScIOR team leader Tracey Weissgerber and team member Inês Almeida being responsible for its implementation and meta-research component. It is based at IIIUC, counting with a multidisciplinary team that includes members from different organizational and research & development units at the UC.
The project is funded under the international initiative CoARA in the first round of the CoARA Boost cascade funding program and can be followed at https://www.uc.pt/en/iii/treasure/ .
By contributing towards institutional changes in how research is assessed and recognized, TREASURE strengthens the commitment of University of Coimbra towards a more responsible research culture!
