From October 21–24, 2025, Seville (Spain) hosted a 4-day workshop on Open Science, Systematic Reviews, and Meta-Analysis, co-led by EXCELScIOR PI Alfredo Sánchez-Tójar and and Ignasi Bartomeous from Doñana Biological Station - CSIC.

On October 20, 2025, the University of Coimbra hosted the Open Science Communities at UC 2025, a one-day event dedicated to sharing projects and initiatives that promote Open Science and related practices, while fostering connections among researchers across UC.

From September 23–27, 2025, EXCELScIOR researcher Inês Almeida, is participating in the ReData Open Science Train-the-Trainer Bootcamp, an intensive program designed to train professionals in delivering Open Science practices.

From September 22–24, 2025, the University of Coimbra (via the EXCELScIOR ERA Chair) was proud to co-organize Responsible Research in Action (RRiA) Unconference 2025, held at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

From September 18–19, 2025 EXCELScIOR team members Tracey Weissgerber and Alfredo Sánchez-Tójar participated in the Research Quality Improvement Symposium in Sošice, Croatia, hosted at the Visitor Centre of Žumberak Nature Park.

On June 24, 2025, EXCELScIOR was represented at the Open Science Sunset event in Lisbon through the participation of team member Inês A. T. Almeida.

We were delighted to host Professor John Ioannidis from Stanford University for a compelling seminar on June 20, 2025, at UC Biotech – Auditório Euclides Pires.

We are pleased to share that Tracey Weissgerber, team leader of the EXCELScIOR project, has co-authored a new opinion article calling for urgent reforms in how clinical study data are shared in Germany.

From May 21–23, EXCELScIOR team member Inês Almeida participated in a series of events hosted by the SCIROS project (Strategic Collaboration for Interdisciplinary Research on Open Science in the SSH) in Helsinki, Finland, to discuss reforming research assessment in the social sciences, arts and humanities (SSH).
